Taxmann Industrial Relations Code 2020

The Industrial Relations Code, 2020 is one of the four labour codes enacted by the Government of India to consolidate and reform existing labour laws. It unifies and replaces the Trade Unions Act, 1926, the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946, and the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

The Code aims to promote harmony between employers and workers, ensure industrial peace, and foster productivity and ease of doing business. It provides comprehensive provisions relating to trade unions, conditions of employment, dispute resolution, layoffs, retrenchments, and closures.

Key features include the recognition of negotiating unions, establishment of Industrial Tribunals, provisions for grievance redressal mechanisms, and regulations for strikes and lockouts. By balancing the rights of workers with the flexibility needs of industries, the Code seeks to create a transparent, fair, and efficient industrial relations framework in India.
